The KUA Boys’ Ice Hockey Team is a proud member of the highly competitive Lakes Region League and holds a strong legacy within New England prep school hockey. The team has achieved numerous accomplishments, including multiple Lakes Region Championships, New England Prep Tournament appearances, and NEPSAC Elite Division Championships in 1982, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2024.
While competing for championships and postseason success is always an exciting achievement, the program’s primary focus is on the development of student-athletes aspiring to play at the collegiate level. KUA hockey alumni have gone on to compete at a variety of Division I and III schools, such as Boston College, Cornell University, Northeastern University, University of Vermont, Trinity College, Bowdoin College, and Middlebury College, as well as pursuing careers in professional hockey.
The foundation of the program’s success starts with its experienced coaching staff. KUA’s Head Coach is Tim Whitehead, a seasoned leader with a rich history in collegiate and prep hockey. Prior to joining KUA, Coach Whitehead spent 25 years coaching at the NCAA level, including head coaching stints at the University of Maine and UMass Lowell. His teams made numerous NCAA Tournament appearances, including 4 Frozen Fours and 2National Championship games.

Lucas Hannay scored two third-period goals to break a 2-2 tie and give the Wildcats some insurance as KUA took a 4-2 win at Tilton on Saturday. Xander Boutilier opened the scoring for KUA just four minutes into the game when he buried a backhander from the slot. Josh Phillips and Thomas Ojard picked up assists. Conal Mulkerrin extended the KUA lead late in the first when he scored off pass from Nasean Faria with Ojard picking up his second assist on the night on the play. Tilton responded with two goals in the second period, but Hannay scored twice in the third, both times assisted by Phillips and Anthony Leech, to secure the win for KUA. Goalie Cam Ingram was sharp in net, turning aside 23 shots for the win.
Five different players found the back of the net as the Wildcats earned a 5-2 victory over Phillips Exeter on Wednesday in Exeter. Jackson Davies, Alexis Gagne, Carter Cowan, Anthony Leech, and Josh Phillips all scored for KUA while Conal Mulkerrin (2), Charlie MacLeod, Jack Ross, Thomas Ojard, Jackson Kimelman, Lucas Hannay, Davies, and Leech all added assists. Goalie Cam Ingram was solid in net, earning the win by stopping 19 shots.
Jackson Kimelman scored the winning goal midway through the third period to break a 3-3 tie as the Wildcats took a road win at Cushing on Saturday. Tied 0-0 in the second, KUA jumped out to a lead in the first minute as Anthony Leech picked the top corner on the powerplay. Assists went to Xander Boutilier and Josh Phillips. After Cushing scored twice, Boutilier and Phillips helped set up Nasean Faria on a faceoff play. The d-man rifled a shot to the top shelf to tie the game. After Cushing took the lead on a 5-on-3 powerplay, Leech sent a pass up the middle to spring Boutilier on a breakaway, and the winger made no mistake, deking the Cushing goalie to tie the game and set the stage for the third period winner. Faria added an empty-netter in the final minute, sending the puck the length of the ice after a faceoff win by Jackson Davies. Goalie Cam Ingram stopped 18 shots to earn the win.
