KUA Theater Presents Black and Blue, an Original Play
The Kimball Union Academy Theater Department is proud to present Black and Blue, an original play conceived by KUA students and written by faculty members Asher Ellis and Matthew Williams, on Thursday, October 29, and Friday, October 30, at 7 p.m. in Flickinger Auditorium.
Does anyone remember exactly what happened at the party last night? And has anyone seen Laura?
As a group of teenagers struggles to piece together a series of unsettling events, accusations fly, tempers flare, and the truth proves increasingly difficult to pin down. Dramatic and suspenseful, Black and Blue explores the slipperiness of memory and the stories we unconsciously tell about ourselves. When do we allow someone a glimpse behind our mask? Do we even know what we truly look like behind our own mask? Letting our guard down creates the possibility of genuine human connection but also leaves us vulnerable to those who might use that openness against us.
Based on themes proposed by KUA students, Black and Blue examines the fragile lines between trust and suspicion, appearance and reality, and the desire to be known and the fear of being exposed.
